Fen Contracts are the proud owners of a Bandit 1590XP Track Wood Chipper. The order was placed with us in August 2015, and delivery took place in December – a nice Christmas present for Chris Theobald, who runs Fen Contracts with his wife Heidi, who also owns and manages a luxury loo hire business ‘Mobile Thrones’.
The 1590XP Track is built on an 8-tonne Caterpillar tracked base; the chipper feed rollers are an impressive 25 inches wide by 18 inches high. It can be mechanically fed by an excavator with a grapple or by using the winch kit that Fen added from the list of specifications offered. The winch kit allows for use on smaller jobs where an excavator is not required or where space and access if limited. Fen also required a paint finish in the company’s corporate ‘blue’.
When using the radio remote control, the chipper operator Darren Dowling feeds the stem through the Bandit 1590XP. He says “The Bandit, being remote controlled, allows an operator a 360-degree view around the machine, reducing manual handling and eliminates operator vibration issues”.
The standard maintained for all work Fen carries out is Chris’s own high standards. “When we leave a site, I want to be able to look around and think, ‘this is a good job and I am happy to pay the bill for the work done’. if you get the job right, and do it consistently, people will employ you”
