S C Chadwick and Sons are a long standing recycling company established in 1944 and developed their skip waste operation in 1964.
With the need to improve their efficiency and reduce their landfill costs, Sean Chadwick (MD) started to reassess the machines available in the market, that could shred their skip waste in one pass, coping with steel contamination and giving a uniform material fraction that could pass through their Trommel Screen.
Having considered many of the machines available, they decided to look at the Hammel 750D with Alligator shafts. The shafts have been specially designed to produce a uniform small shred particle size of 0-100mm, whilst still coping with contamination that you would expect from a skip waste company.
They purchased from Global Recycling Solutions Ltd a Hammel 750 fitted with CAT 350hp diesel engine, remote control, over-band magnet, alligator shafts and combs, tipping hopper, hydraulic lift and fine radiator screen, which is currently processing between 1400-1600 tons a week of material.
Since purchasing the machine, they have noticed a substantial saving on the cost of getting the material to landfill and their recovery rates have dramatically increased.
“Our buying decision was based on the reputation of the Hammel and there is no other machine in its class for this type of application. We were also delighted with the after-sales support offered to us by Global Recycling” commented Sean Chadwick
